How it works

Answer a few questions when you sign up so you can get matched with the right table of eight.

You will be placed at a table with seven other guests and receive the exact location of the restaurant well in advance of the dinner. All guests pre-pay the dinner fee, which includes appetizer, entree, and wine or a non-alcoholic beverage.

This is like attending a fun dinner party or event where the host is looking out for you and making sure you meet good people and have a fantastic night.

That’s it! Attend and enjoy. ✨

  • So refreshing to go beyond weather, jobs and kids. Loved meeting new people I'd want to see again. Plus a great French restaurant! I'll be back.

    • Ilana

  • I especially liked that we had one conversation and I got to know everyone at the table. Met people I'd see again and never would have met otherwise!

    • Jeffrey

  • Didn't know what to expect and it was better than anything I could have imagined.... thank you for creating this!

FAQ:

  • Dinner for Eight is open to those who find us via word of mouth, Eventbrite, LinkedIn, and Instagram.

  • This dinner club is geared to guests ages 35-65 based on the idea that it is harder to meet new people as you get older and have more of a tendency to get silo-ed in your career.

  • We spend more time talking about who you are or what you think than what you do, we require LinkedIn membership as a vetting tool since Dinner For Eight is for professionals (including authors, execs and entrepreneurs). This also gives us a way to ensure people are real and are coming to engage in a positive manner.

  • All genders and nonbinary people are welcome. This is not a dating event, but if you meet someone at a dinner you want to date, there is no rule against that.

  • We have repeat guests and always have about 70% new people as well.

  • The dinner fee covers appetizers, meal, wine or mocktail of your choice.

  • The fee is non-refundable once you commit so we can ensure we have 8 people and can manage the reservation process. But if you find you can't attend, you can sell your ticket to a friend so long as you let us know 48 hours in advance and provide their email and LinkedIn.

  • We are experimenting and learning as we go. Feedback, ideas, inquiries on how to host a Dinner for Eight in your city are all welcome. Our goal is to put a little more connection and community into our lives through good conversation and good food.

  • Restaurants vary. We change up the neighborhoods, mainly meet in Manhattan and opt for welcoming ambiance, great food, elegant atmosphere and easy accessibility. This is a social club of sorts, focused on the shared interest in connection rather than the food as the raison d'être. But we do love a great meal!

  • Some past restaurants include North Fork, l’Express, Boucherie, Isabella Osteria, Jams Restaurant, Fig & Olive, Il Fiorista and Taralucci e Vino.

  • You can now by a package of dinners for a discount and use them over a 12 or 24 month period: Five Dinners for $600 ($75 savings) or 10 Dinners for $1,150 ($200 savings)
